Principal's Message

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!  I hope that you have had a safe and enjoyable summer!  The Nye Staff is looking forward to beginning this new school year!  The first day of school is Monday, August 21, 2023.  We are excited about getting this school year started and getting to know you and your children!

This year, Google Classroom and/or Seesaw will be the learning platforms used for instructional purposes. Class Dojo will continue to be a major form of communication.  If you have more than one student, please be sure to sign up for each teacher’s Class Dojo page.  Teachers will be sending out all of the codes needed for their classroom. If you need assistance setting up your Parent Portal accounts please contact us on ClassDojo.

Each classroom teacher will reach out to families with more information about the full daily schedule before the first day of school.

Families can expect:

  • A six-hour school day with customized learning experiences for each K-12 student
  • All students will have daily, live interaction with their teachers
  • All elementary students will receive instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, English language development, science, social studies, physical education, and the arts
  • Students will receive grades to measure their progress
  • Teachers will utilize Seesaw, Google Drive, or Canvas as their Learning Management System to post their assignments and learning activities.

The connection between the home and school is important for the success of students. We all need to work together to ensure that students' needs are met.  In order for students to get into the routines and expectations of school, here are some actions that will help:

  • Students get at least 8 hours sleep each school night.
  • Students get up in time to have their breakfast before school begins at 7:40 am.
  • Students are appropriately dressed for school with their supplies.

School Offices are open daily. Please use ClassDojo or email to communicate directly with staff members. The school phone number is 619-430-1200 and will be open from 7 am to 3:15 pm.  In addition, your child’s teachers will have office hours for parents needing access and information. Please be sure to leave a message with your contact information so that we can return your call.

In closing, the Nye Staff and I want to wish you and your children a safe, wonderful and successful school year.

Sincerely,

Dr. Pamela Thompson
